Wireless FAQs


  1. Q. Can I use a wireless device purchased at my local retail store to connect to your wireless Network?
    • A. No our wireless system is proprietary and not 802.11 compatible.

  2. Q. Can I install the wireless equipment myself?
    • A. No the equipment is NOT customer Installable and has to be installed by one of our qualified technicians to insure proper performance and signal strength.

  3. Q. Will I lose my Internet connection when there are heavy storms like my satellite?
    • A. No, properly engineered wireless connections, unlike satellite, only go a few miles to a tower, not thousands of miles like your satellite signal must go and should not lose connection due to any storms.

  4. Q. What do I need to connect to your wireless equipment once installed at my location?
    • A. You will need a Network Card also known as a Ethernet Card to connect into our wireless radio, if you have more then one computer you will need to purchase a cable/dsl type router, either from us or on your own.

  5. Q. Can I use my wireless connection when I'm away from home or the office?
    • A. No, our wireless is “fixed” wireless and will only work at the location of initial install.

  6. Q. Can someone spy on me while I am using my wireless or is my computer less secure?
    • A. No we use proprietary wireless equipment and many other security measures to ensure the security of our home and business users.

  7. Q. Can I still use my AOL or other type service with your wireless.
    • A. Yes but you will incure extra charges from those providers by doing so.

  8. Q. Will my games work over your wireless?
    • A. Yes, wireless works very well for gaming and in some if not most cases has lower latency then comparable types of service.

  9. Q. Can I check my email if I am away from home?
    • A. Yes using our online web mail on our homepage you can check your emails from anywhere you have a connection to the web.

  10. Q. Do I have to purchase expensive equipment from Fairnet LLC?
    • A. No we do not require our users to purchase our “fixed” wireless equipment that brings the service to your location, it is leased and is included in the pricing in the plan you choose.

  11. Q. How do I know if I can actually get your service?
    • A. The first thing we do after you call into our office is setup a free site survey to determine your signal quality and eligibility for service.

  12. Q. When will your wireless service be available in my area?
    • A. We are always looking at new areas to put the High Speed Wireless service, if you feel you live in an area that would benefit from the service, please let us know either by email or call and talk to one of our Sales Specialists directly.
