The 2005 CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey has found that virus attacks present the greatest financial losses of all types of computer crime. Another survey done by America Online suggests that 20% of all PC's are infected with a virus or worm.
Fairnet is committed to keeping you safe from the virus threats of the Internet. All email that is sent through the Fairnet system is scanned for viruses. If a virus is detected in an email, the email is discarded and the sender of the virus is warned. Because of this, you can be sure that your email will be VIRUS FREE. If you have any questions on our virus fighting efforts, email us at tech@ffni.com
Always use and keep updated an Anti-Virus program from a trusted company. At Fairnet, we recommend Grisoft's AVG (Download). This program has FREE virus definition updates for life! It automatically scans your machine for infections nightly, and downloads new virus definitions when they become available. Fairnet does not recommend the use of Norton Internet Security nor Mcafee Internet Security Suite, as many customers have problems with these two products. Never run multiple anti-virus programs on your computer. If you plan to switch to AVG, uninstall your current anti-virus first.

When connected to the internet just click "Check for Updates" to download the latest definition file. AVG will run when your machine starts and leave an icon in your system tray (by the clock). If the icon is lit up with color, it means your virus definitions are up-to-date and you are protected, however if it is gray, it is time to check for updates.
